Are You Ready for Online Dating????

More and more women are using online dating services, this is
a great alternative to going to night clubs, or or having your friends set you
up on a blind date.
The internet has become a social acceptable way to meet
friends, stay in touch with family, or meet the love of your life.
With all the positives that the internet can provide, there
are also those that use the internet that feel compelled to turn a good thing in
to something bad.
Their targets are vulnerable women who are looking for
someone to listen. They will ask for information that you shouldn’t be giving
someone online. If you feel someone is pressing too hard for personal
information you should stop all contact with them. Report the issue to the site
you are using as well.
This may seem like common sense to some but some not; never
give out your last name, specifics on what town you live in, or where you work.
Not to be deceiving, be cautious until you get to know
someone, Create and use a name online that doesn’t link back to you.
With your phone number someone could find out exactly where
you live
Try it, go to Google put your phone number including area
code in the search box and see what comes up; you may be shocked
The profile that you submit online on sites line MySpace need
to be full of what you like to do. However, avoid naming specific locations. For
example if you enjoy walks in the park, don’t tell everyone where you normally
take your walks. Avoid mentioning your friends and family by name in your on
line profile.
This is a common slip up for many women on these “social”
sites. They are so proud of their accomplishments and of their children that
they want to share specific details. Yet that is information that could get into
the hands of the wrong individual.
No mother would ever want such information to lead to
problems for her or her children.
Eventually there will come a time though when you feel
comfortable with people online to set up a meeting with them. Take your time
getting to this point though so the relationship can really grow.
If someone presses immediately for a face to face meeting you need to decline.
When you feel ready to meet someone that you met online, follow these tips
- Meet at a mutual location with each party
responsible for their own transportation. A restaurant is a great place
because there are other people around. - Make sure someone you know is aware of who you are meeting and where.
Check in with them throughout the evening. In fact, it may not be a bad idea
for them to be in the area while you are meeting the new person. This way
they can quickly be available if you need them to be. - For added security self defense kit, I recommend the ones found at
