Pepper Spray Used To Satisfy Your Physiological Needs
Next to physiological needs (air, food, water, shelter, etc.), Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs ranks safety and security as our second most basic necessity. There are many ways to satisfy our safety and security needs. You can learn martial arts and other self-defense skills or even purchase a gun. However, these two examples promote violence and may cause permanent damage. As much as we want to protect ourselves, we also don’t want to cause any permanent harm. The smartest way you can protect yourself without inflicting too much harm is by getting a pepper spray.
When used, pepper sprays stimulate sneezing, coughing attacks and choking and consequently slow down the attacker. The burning sensation caused in the eyes averts the assailant from seeing clearly. If the pepper foam or pepper gel variant were used, the attacker would then instinctively wipe the foam off – unaware that he’s actually rubbing If the OC pepper spray contains a higher proportion of OC, it can cause inflammation in the mucous membrane and temporarily incapacitate the aggressor completely. These effects can last up to 30 minutes or even longer depending on how potent it is. It is essential to note that the finer the pepper grains used in the spray, the stronger the effect will be. Since pepper sprays or OC sprays vary in strength and potency, some can be weaker than the others. That is why we recommend the MACE pepper spray brand. It is one of the most trusted brand names in the market and simply the best quality ever.

Disguised Self-defense Sprays Are All The Rave.
The crime rate in the country is rising at an alarming rate. Cases of robbery, theft and murder are in the news everyday.
More alarming is the higher crime rate against women.
Most perpetrators find it easier to attack women since they expect us to be more submissive compared to men. With these unfortunate events happening, it’sobvious that there is a need for self-defense and protection especially for ladies.
Fighting back is not always a healthy option. Even if you can put up a fight, there is always a risk of physical harm and violence.

Pepper spray is an excellent self-defense product. Pepper sprays are classified as non-lethal weapons, intended to be efficient at deterring aggressors
due to its immediate effects.
Its effectiveness can be attributed from its main ingredient that is extracted from Chile peppers called“oleoresin capsicum” or commonly called OC.
They come in pepper spraypens, sexy lipstick pepperspray tubes and pepper spray pagers.
You can catch an attacker by surprise with any one of these items that are normally designed for everyday use.
What are the benefits and affects of pepper spray?
• A one second squirt of pepperspray to the face can cause temporary blindness
and an abundant stream of tears.

• Pepper sprays can cause sneezing, coughing and difficulty of breathing, while bringing anattacker to their knees.

Are You Ready for Online Dating????

More and more women are using online dating services, this is
a great alternative to going to night clubs, or or having your friends set you
up on a blind date.
The internet has become a social acceptable way to meet
friends, stay in touch with family, or meet the love of your life.
With all the positives that the internet can provide, there
are also those that use the internet that feel compelled to turn a good thing in
to something bad.
Their targets are vulnerable women who are looking for
someone to listen. They will ask for information that you shouldn’t be giving
someone online. If you feel someone is pressing too hard for personal
information you should stop all contact with them. Report the issue to the site
you are using as well.
This may seem like common sense to some but some not; never
give out your last name, specifics on what town you live in, or where you work.
Not to be deceiving, be cautious until you get to know
someone, Create and use a name online that doesn’t link back to you.
With your phone number someone could find out exactly where
you live
Try it, go to Google put your phone number including area
code in the search box and see what comes up; you may be shocked
The profile that you submit online on sites line MySpace need
to be full of what you like to do. However, avoid naming specific locations. For
example if you enjoy walks in the park, don’t tell everyone where you normally
take your walks. Avoid mentioning your friends and family by name in your on
line profile.
This is a common slip up for many women on these “social”
sites. They are so proud of their accomplishments and of their children that
they want to share specific details. Yet that is information that could get into
the hands of the wrong individual.
No mother would ever want such information to lead to
problems for her or her children.
Eventually there will come a time though when you feel
comfortable with people online to set up a meeting with them. Take your time
getting to this point though so the relationship can really grow.
If someone presses immediately for a face to face meeting you need to decline.
When you feel ready to meet someone that you met online, follow these tips
- Meet at a mutual location with each party
responsible for their own transportation. A restaurant is a great place
because there are other people around. - Make sure someone you know is aware of who you are meeting and where.
Check in with them throughout the evening. In fact, it may not be a bad idea
for them to be in the area while you are meeting the new person. This way
they can quickly be available if you need them to be. - For added security self defense kit, I recommend the ones found at

How Long before A Gun Ban ?
How long until our 2nd amendment rights are challenged again we will be unable to defend our self’s?
Obama said when interviewed that he is looking for Supreme Court justices that will interpret the constitution with a modern look on society. What will be our defense when someone breaks into our house and attacks our family? Will you be more of a target if the burglar or home invader knows you will not have a self-defense item?
Where will it stop only when we can use sticks or rocks to defend our self’s?
There has been a increase in personal defense products since the primary elections.
Our once safe neighborhoods are not hat safe anymore, what are you plans?
Have you been gathering sticks and rocks?
Let’s level the playing field, have the burglar or home invader not knowing if you will or not have a self-defense item. I say keep the thugs guessing I would hope it would not be long until the word gets around, and crime will start to slow down.

Would You Ever Host a Taser Party?
If you’re a woman, you’ve probably been invited to an Avon, Pampered Chef, or Passion party before. They’re actually a great way to shop and hang out with the girls while you sip wine and enjoy tasty hors d’oeuvres. But the ladies in Phoenix, Ariz., are replacing the Tupperware parties with something a lot more shocking: taser parties.
Dana Leigh Shafman the President and Owner of Shieldher Inc., hosted what seems to be one of the first “taser parties” ever. She even invited an off-duty law enforcement officer, who demoed the nonlethal weapon to her friends. Afterward, the ladies were allowed to look and handle the devices, which are available in pink, blue, and other colors.
I have a feeling this won’t be the last taser party we hear about, since metallic pink taser guns are all the rage. Ms. Rigberg seems to think taser guns “make you more confident” in certain situations where you might be uncomfortable.
I know it’s crazy, but I’d love to attend a taser party myself, so if any of you Bay Area ladies decides to host one, send me an invite.
Ladies, what’s your take here? Would you host or attend a taser party for all your friends? Diy Self Defense has the products for your next taser party contact them for specail packages.

What Is a Taser C2 , Do I Need One ?
First lets discuss the Difference Between a Taser and a Stun Gun?
The concept of this type of defense technology still confuses many people. For most of us the two devices are blatantly diverse and we know the difference but for those who are still in the dark allow me to quickly explain.
The stun gun is a very short range protection device. Of course there are many good products out there that are small and stylish that work quite well but the one draw back remains that any persons trying to violate you must come within reach. This means entering your personal space which can be frightening and intense. The product must touch the person and to some this is too close for comfort.

A C2 taser works a little differently. It basically shoots small metal spikes into the perpetrator allowing the victim to remain at a safe distance. This offers peace of mind knowing that you don’t have to risk yourself by letting them get too close before making your move.

So now that you know the differences, the question I mostly get is “Who Should Own A Taser”?
Anyone can own this taser for personal or home protection. The big advantage of owning a Tazer c2, they are a safer substitute to buying a gun.
Bullets kill, Im not going to go in to a rant how guns are evil ..yada , yada, yada…they do have their place and not that there is anything wrong with a person exercising their constitutional right to bear arms; safety should be your primary concern.
If not for the person about to violate you, then at least for your family’s sake think about an alternative weapon The C2 Taser.
To obtain this weapon however, there is a background check that you must first complete.
It only takes a few moments and you can choose to do it via internet or telephone depending on where you are buying from.
I got my c2 taser at diyselfdefense and I am glad I did !!! If you would like to to get a C2 taser at a great sale price go to Diy Self Defense

North Carolina Crime Rate Up For The Second Year In A Row

Attorney General Roy Cooper says the number of reported crimes in North Carolina increased slightly last year.
Cooper released figures Tuesday show that the crime rate increased by about one-tenth of a percent in 2007. That marks the second year in a row the state’s crime rate has increased.
The data show reported rapes, assaults and robberies decreased slightly. But the state’s murder rate increased by 8.5 percent.
Cooper said law enforcement officers are concerned the state’s crime rate will rise if the economy continues to slow. He called on state officials to fund prevention efforts and give officers more crime-fighting resources.

Macon County Georgia Weekend Crime Spree
By Ashley Tusan Joyner
Macon police say last weekend was just one of those weekends.
A rash of violent crimes happened in less than 36 hours Saturday and Sunday but none of the five incidents, all involving guns, appear to be related, Capt. Jimmy Barbee said.

Just before noon Saturday, a Macon police officer shot an alleged car thief in the Macon Mall parking lot after the driver attempted to run him over with a pickup truck. The suspect, Brandon Stapleton, 22, was released from the hospital Sunday and is in the Bibb County jail.
Later that day, gunmen pistol-whipped a 41-year-old man while his home in the 3900 block of Dover Street was robbed. The assailants then shot into a woman’s vehicle, grazing her in the back, after the beaten man jumped inside and tried to flee the scene.
About 2 a.m. Sunday, a man was killed and another man was pistol-whipped during a robbery outside at the Versailles Apartments off Bloomfield Drive.
At a SunTrust Bank ATM on Pio Nono Avenue on Sunday afternoon, a masked man shot into a 73-year-old man’s truck, robbing him moments later. The man was not injured.
Sunday about 6:45 p.m., two Macon teenagers were shot at a house on Lawton Drive. Police said the shooting stemmed from a fight earlier in the day.
Macon police later arrested 36-year-old Darrell Kartez Butler Sr. in connection with the shooting. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and remains in custody at the Bibb County jail.
Police have no suspects in the two armed robberies and the killing.
“We have some things that we’re following up on, but we can’t say there’s a connection (between the incidents),” Barbee said. “We’ll look at things that happened this weekend, last weekend and things that happened last month.”
Barbee said he doesn’t think the recent start of summer break for school kids caused the high crime weekend.
“Nothing in our investigations so far indicates that. Some weekends we have a multitude of things, others not,” he said. “We just had some evil people doing evil things. None of these incidents needed to happen.”
Macon police officer Jeffery Scott Johnson, who fired 11 times into a stolen 2008 Toyota Tundra at the Macon Mall on Saturday, is on paid administrative leave until Wednesday to de-stress after the incident, according to police.
An internal affairs investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Each police use of “deadly force” is investigated by the Macon police internal affairs department.
A family spokeswoman for 45-year-old Roberto Garcia, who was killed early Sunday in the Bloomfield Srive incident, said funeral arrangements for Garcia are under way and the service will take place in Mexico. Marco Garcia, 26, who suffered a head injury in the beating, is recovering from his injuries. Police said the two men lived together, but are not related.

Self Defense for Women

By Security Girl
I have always considered myself to be a pretty average woman – you know, a busy mom, writer, homemaker, worker, PTA member and community member.
I can remember a time not too long ago when I felt perfectly safe tooling through the neighborhood, going on walks with my daughter in her stroller around town, going to school events, the mall, going for a morning or afternoon jog and going to work.
I still consider myself a pretty average woman, but some things have changed for me. Even though I live in a pretty quiet town by most standards, crime has been on the rise. The thing about crime in this small, quiet town is that – just as in large cities – crime comes randomly and seemingly, out of nowhere. This is where normalcy ends for me and protection becomes a prominent worry.
As I have researched, I am finding that more and more the term self defence and women are becoming connected to one another.
Most of us – whether high powered executives or busy homemakers – are concerned about our security. We can be vulnerable whether we are leaving the office walking through a dark parking lot to our car, working in our garden or around the house, or going to the ATM. Any place and any time a woman is alone or vulnerable, she is at risk of a personal attack by someone who sneaks up behind her, breaks into her home or follows her to her car.
As a result more women are purchasing stun guns, pepper spray and personal alarms. Why are women purchasing these self defense products? Mainly because most of us don’t want to use a gun and necessarily kill someone; we want to stop the intruder or attacker in their tracks and get away or get help. A stun gun or pepper spray will incapacitate the attacker long enough for that to happen.
Most of us probably never thought things would get to this point, however; unfortunately they have. The good news is that we can protect ourselves and our families.
I recommend the self defense products for women kits that DIY Self Defense is offering. . These self defense weapons for women have been especially chosen for take down power, reliability, and portability in mind.

What nonlethal weapons do police use?

BY JASON KOTOWSKI, Californian staff writer
Friday, Mar 21 2008 5:51 PM
Whether with a jolt, a sting or a wallop, law enforcement has a wide variety of tools at their disposal to take a suspect alive or disperse a crowd.
The county SWAT team uses to fire nonlethal “rubber” bullets.
The “less-lethal” weapons used by the Bakersfield Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department are virtually the same.
The average cop or deputy on the street use:
• Pepper spray — Also called OC spray (for oleoresin capsicum), used to irritate the eyes and cause pain. Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Komin said the effects of the spray usually wear off 45 minutes after exposure. If you get pepper sprayed Officer Scott Lazenby said you need fresh air and patience.
• Taser — An electroshock weapon that can be used from a distance of up to 25 feet by firing prongs that stick into a person, or by placing the weapon against a suspect and activating it. The weapon delivers a shock that causes pain and muscle contraction for five seconds, but after the shock is over there is no lasting effect. Police Detective Kevin P. Findley said one drawback to the Taser is that some suspects are able to pull the prongs out after they’re hit. This weapon is the most recent addition to law enforcement. Every deputy is armed with a Taser and so are many, but not all, police officers.
• Baton — Perhaps the oldest less-lethal weapon that law enforcement uses, the baton is a short stick, typically made of wood, used to hit certain parts of the body to incapacitate a suspect. A drawback, said Komin, is that a lasting injury can result.
• In addition, some officers in the police department use a Pepper Ball gun. This CO2-powered gun, very similar to a paintball gun, fires small pellets that release pepper spray when they break open.
There are several important implications to this article. First, if the police are becoming aware that there are non-lethal ways of subduing attackers, there is hope for the rest of us. Secondly, there are self-defense tools available to all of us. We have choices and can get information regarding which tools are best for our needs.

Non-Lethal Self-Defense That Works
Imagine you are a middle-aged woman who lives alone. You live in a quiet, middle-class neighborhood where most homes are well kept, have nice amenities and would be good targets for a burglar. In addition, most of your neighbors work during the day, but you are in and out. You like to take a walk with your dog around 2:00 PM each day, when most folks are still at work and there are not many people around.
On a normal week day you are off to walk your little dog at the normal time. You notice a man tying his shoe two houses down from you, so you decide to walk in the other direction. You’ve never seen this individual before, plus, he has a sweatshirt with a hood on. You get a cringe in your stomach, but you keep on walking. You end your walk a bit early and when you return to your home, you literally walk in on this man as he is leaving your house through the back door. You can’t out run or out fight him? What do you do?
Many people today have started purchasing non-lethal weapons such as the Taser C2. This is an excellent option for individuals who want to protect themselves, but do not want to buy or use a gun and don’t want to necessarily kill their attacker. The Taser C2 will do just this for you – protect without killing.
The Taser C2 will deliver a high voltage shock to your would-be attacker or burglar/robber. This shock will immobilize this individual long enough for you to get away and get help. It will stun the individual’s neuro-muscular system so that they are disoriented and not able to move for a few moments. This can be the difference between you being harmed or being able to escape.
Self-defense is an extremely important issue. Take the time to find out what protection is available and how it will work for you. For further information on the Taser C2 and other self-defense tools and weapons, click here or visit us on the web at DIY Self Defense

C2 Tasers Take Self Defense to New Level
These days, no matter where you live or travel, there is a possibility that you could become the victim of an attack. Even in small towns that in the past have not experienced much crime, personal attacks are becoming more and more prevalent. Since crime is increasing – not decreasing – what can we do to protect ourselves?
There are excellent tools on the market that are legal and legitimate when used properly for self defense. One powerful tool is the Taser C2, which, according to Elias Jimenez of the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, “is not an instrument that will kill you, but it is an instrument that will render someone helpless.”
Napoleon, Ohio Police Chief, Bob Weitzel adds, “Such devices as tasers and pepper spray are legitimate self defense tools. The constitution expects you to protect yourself if you are attacked. In a situation where you need to defend yourself, it [a taser] is a good option to have.” Weitzel also added that tasers should be treated with respect, and an individual should understand how a taser works and how to use it effectively.
Watch The Taser C2 Testomionials
Tasers, such as the Taser C2, which are available to the public, work the same as tasers that police officers carry. The difference is that the tasers used by the public produce a lower voltage, but will still incapacitate an attacker, leaving you enough time to get away and get help.
Tasers are affordable, effective and easy to use. They have become so popular that they are available in an assortment of colors. Holsters – such as holsters for your cell phone – are also available in a variety of colors.
Don’t become a victim or a statistic. Don’t avoid taking a walk, run or jog, going to the ATM, or any other activities because of safety concerns. With a Taser C2 you can feel safe and be safe.

Sale of Tasers to public weighed
These days there are more and more personal attacks and a greater need for self-defense products and weapons such as the Taser C2. The article below from the Detroit Daily News discusses some of the issues surrounding self-defense in Michigan. It also specifically talks about the Taser C2, an affordable, effective and powerful self-defense weapon.
Sale of Tasers to public weighed
Mich. bills would allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry nonlethal device.
Delores Flynn / The Detroit News
GRAND LEDGE — Cana Garrison has handled guns since age 12, when she and her dad shot targets in the woods behind their Charlotte home. But the Air National Guardswoman, who has rifle and pistol training, would rather carry a Taser than a gun. “With a Taser, I can still defend myself, but with less force to incapacitate a perpetrator, and at the same time I don’t have to worry about hurting anyone else,” she said.
Garrison is among those who support a three-bill House package that would allow Michigan residents with concealed-weapon permits to carry a Taser, instead of a gun, as a less-than-lethal option for self-defense. Under current law, only law enforcement and Corrections officers, military personnel, licensed private investigators, pilots and crew members can possess weapons that use electric currents.
“I believe firearms are a good thing, but I’m concerned about potential stray bullets harming someone, especially in my home,” said Garrison, 28, who’s taken state concealed pistol license training and is seeking a CCW permit. “If I shot someone and the bullet went through them, then through a wall or window and hit an innocent bystander on the sidewalk, that’s the absolute last thing I’d want to happen trying to defend yourself.”
The law would allow Michigan residents to buy single-shot civilian Tasers that use compressed nitrogen to shoot wired darts 15 feet, delivering a painful electrical charge that incapacitates a person’s muscles and limbs. And while proponents argue that Tasers are a safer alternative to firearms, law enforcement officials and human rights advocates say the devices are far too dangerous to entrust to the public for widespread use.
Civilians are allowed to carry the devices in 43 states. Taser laws vary by state. Illinois only allows residents to use a Taser or stun gun, which has to be pressed against the skin, inside a home or business. In Arizona, women attend Taser parties that resemble Tupperware get-togethers. In 2007, Taser International released its fits-in-a-purse C2 model, which comes in a variety of colors, including metallic pink.
Michigan’s legislation, which is under review in the House Judiciary Committee, makes it a felony for anyone to misuse or commit a crime with a Taser. Jones hopes the Judiciary Committee takes up the issue in the next two months and the bill gets passed by the end of the year. If not, he will take up the issue again in 2009.
Since the devices are only intended for self-defense, once a Taser is shot it spits out a confetti-like material containing the serial number of the cartridge that police can use to identify the owner if necessary, according to Taser International. The company has sold Tasers since 1994 and knows of fewer than a dozen cases where the device has been used in a crime. In 14 years, more than 160,000 Tasers have been sold to consumers directly from the company, Cabela’s and some firearm outlets.
Tom Urbanski, owner of Ski’s Firearm Training and Consulting in Oregon, Ohio, a Toledo suburb, keeps a handful of Tasers in stock in case one of his firearms students becomes squeamish about using a gun. “When I hit students with the fact they need to aim for somebody’s chest, which might kill them in defense, I usually get a negative reaction, especially from women,” Urbanski said. “That’s when I pull out the Tasers and stun guns and offer them a different option.”
Brad Benzing doesn’t support Michigan’s proposed legislation because, as with guns, it would limit the places where Tasers can be carried.
No-carry zones would include schools, university classrooms and dorms, churches, day care centers, hospitals, bars and taverns, sporting arenas and entertainment facilities with 2,500 people or more. That’s too restrictive for Benzing.

Affordable Self-Defense Weapons
These days it seems that we can’t turn on the news without hearing about at least one personal attack on every news show. These attacks are not just happening in crime-ridden areas, but in small quiet towns where crime is a rarity.
In the past, most of us thought that this could never happen to us or to anyone we know, however, presently, a great many of us have either been attacked or know someone who has been personally attacked. What can we do to protect ourselves?

Unlike the situation a few years ago, there are now a number of affordable self defense weapons available today. The cost of reliable and effective tools for defending ourselves has become much more reasonable during the past several years, as weapons have become more readily available and used more often for protection. Just like color TVs and DVD players were very expensive when they first came to market but their costs came down considerably over the years, the cost of protecting ourselves and our families has dropped considerably, making it possible to purchase affordable self-defense weapons.
People are not just purchasing weapons for self-defense, they are scrambling for them. One important point to remember when trying to decide what to purchase is to do your research. Find out how different self-defense tools work. Find out the different varieties available. How much do you know about pepper spray? Did you know that it comes in many types of containers, plus in foam and a gel forms? What about tasers or stun guns? How do they work? What is the difference between the two? Which would be better to protect you? What are the effects on your attacker?
All of these questions should be answered by the company you purchase your choice of self-defense weapon from. To find the answers to these questions and to see a large variety of effective, reliable and very affordable self-defense weapons, click here or please visit us on the web at http:www.diyselfdefense.com

Should a woman carry a gun for protection?

There was an article in the Bucks County Courier Times about women protecting themselves. It talks about guns and self-defense classes, but also mentions tasers, pepper spray and mace. We felt it was an appropriate topic for everyone to read. Excerpts from the article follow below:
By MANASEE WAGH
Bucks County Courier Times
Half of Steve Rementer’s students at the shooting range are women these days. In fact, he has designed his course around teaching women how to shoot firearms in self-defense.
“If a woman can protect herself, it’s the first line of defense. She is 30 to 40 percent more likely to be attacked than a man,” said Rementer, a police firearms instructor at Pistol People, a shooting range in Bensalem, and a Philadelphia police officer for 30 years. He said he’s met many women who have been raped and attacked.
“Women are better students than men. They are more focused, and they don’t want to be victimized. Every woman I could teach, I would.”
The National Sporting Goods Association reported in 2006 that 50 percent more women are now target shooting. The association attributed rising gun ownership in part to self-defense.
The National Rifle Association has several women’s programs, including teaching women how to shoot.
Web sites selling defense gear to women have been popping up selling tasers, stun guns and pepper spray.
Three women at southern university campuses were slain within one week recently.
The body of Lauren Burk, 18, an Auburn University student, was found five miles from the campus. Eve Marie Carson, a 22-year-old attending the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, was shot and killed. And Katharine Wood, 24, a senior at the University of Arkansas, was shot dead in her off-campus apartment.
Last April, 32 people at Virginia Tech were murdered by a mentally unstable gunman.
A failed 2006 bill would have allowed students who have a concealed weapon permit to carry firearms anywhere on a Virginia campus.
The Bureau of Justice’s research shows that in 2005 alone, 5.2 million crimes of violence were committed in this country.
In Bucks County, more people are getting gun permits. In 2006, 4,874 gun permits were issued. The number jumped to 5,392 in 2007, according to the sheriff’s office. In the first two months of this year, the county issued nearly 1,000 permits.
While Sheriff Edward J. Donnelly did not have gender statistics, he said the percentage of gun permits issued to women probably has stayed at about 10 percent to 11 percent for years.
People interviewed in Lower Bucks expressed differing opinions about gun permits for women.
William Miller of Levittown said he worries when his girlfriend goes to Philadelphia alone.
“I recently told her to take a can of Mace into the city. It’s dangerous,” he said.
Some said that people would face less risk if strangers think they may be carrying lethal weapons.
“We have the right to bear arms by the Constitution,” said John Chester of Trenton. “Law-abiding citizens are sane enough to use them just for self-defense, as opposed to criminals. Law enforcement can’t be everywhere. You need the ability to fight back.”
However, Susan Perry, who was visiting Yardley from New Jersey, said she is against women carrying guns.
“They should bring Mace, or anything they can use to protect themselves.”
Her husband said even a knife would be better than carrying a gun.
“And never walk alone. Take a defensive action course,” he said.
Some agreed avoiding risk is best.
“There’s safety in numbers,” said Lucy Sanderson of Falls. “I’m not sure if a woman should be carrying a gun. And education is the key — how to defend yourself besides using a weapon.”
She liked a recent citizens’ police academy workshop in Bristol Township, which taught people ways to avoid an attack. Like checking the back seat of your car before you climb in and not bringing your pocketbook into a mall during the holiday shopping rush.
Brian Buchanan of Bristol Township agreed.
“When someone has a weapon, it’s too risky. I’m not in favor of people arming themselves. That’s something for law enforcement,” he said. As the brother of five sisters and uncle to nieces, Buchanan was concerned.
“But the best way is not to attack a violent criminal. We should have more security patrolling the streets,” he said.
Mary Morse, a professor of women’s studies and English at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., said she’s thought about it a lot. But she’d never buy a gun to defend herself, said the Morrisville resident.
“I feel the same about Tasers. Pepper spray is the furthest I’ll go. I’ve discussed it with my students, though I’m not sure they would all agree.” Her husband, Steve Morse, thinks the same way.
Regardless of what type of protection you need, it is clear that the discussion is a strong and ongoing one, and the decision as to how to protect yourself – especially if you are a woman – is a personal choice. Electronic Door Stopper Provides Security
Have you (or anyone you know) ever traveled and stayed in a hotel room only to have someone enter with the wrong key because of the front desk making a mistake?
Has someone ever tried to break in to your house or hotel? Have you had the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, only to have housekeeping rap the door with their key and walk right in?
Unfortunately, too many of us can answer YES to those questions. Even with door bolts and chain locks, unfortunate situations might arise.
What can you do to keep your home or hotel room less vulnerable and more secure?
One way to do this is through an innovative and inexpensive safety product called the Super Door Stop Alarm.
Super Door Stop Alarm looks like a doorstop that we have all used to keep a door open.
It is a simple wedge; however, it is so much more.
When placed under the inside of the door (once you are inside), The Super Door Stop Alarmwill act as leverage against the door being opened by someone and it will also sound a 120db alarm, which will scare off any intruder.
The sensitivity can be adjusted and there is a convenient on-off switch to save energy when the alarm is not in use. In addition, it is lightweight and can be tossed into a suitcase or overnight case without adding extra weight to your luggage, and it runs on a 9 volt battery.
To feel more secure – especially if you travel – purchase a Super Door Stop Alarm.
